Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Wed Jul 8 08:14:36 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for July 8 1931 – from The Book of First Runs The new cars for the INDependent Subway are tested in passenger service on the No. 4 Sea Beach Line of the BMT. The consist of the first train was 214-211-208-207-384-387-385-381 (All R-1’s). Testing continued until November 27 when the cars were returned to the IND via car-float. Note: The Arnines defined the IND for many years. It should be noted that they made their first and last runs on the BMT Source: New York Division Bulletin / May 2001 / article by Mr. Bernard Linder 1977 – from The Book of Wrecks PCC cars 59 and 65 are destroyed in a collision on the Shaker Height Rapid Transit System. Transport of New Jersey sells them two of the Newark City Subway PCC’s, nos. 3 and 27 as replacements. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
