Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Thu Jul 2 07:38:02 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for July 2 1878 – from The Book of First Runs The Brooklyn, Flatbush & Coney Island Railroad begins service between Prospect Park and Coney Island. 1950 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day for streetcar service in Covington, Kentucky. 1971 – from The Book of Last Runs Hudson Terminal was closed today after the departure of the 9:57 PM train to Newark. The station had opened on July 19, 1909 and along with the Hudson Terminal Buildings was the centerpiece of the Hudson & Manhattan Railroad. Its replacement will be the new World Trade Center Station. 1976 – from The Book of First Runs The New York City Transit Authority opens a museum in the unused Court Street Station. The opening day line-up was D-Type 6112, R-1 100, R-4 484, R-7A 1575, R-11 8013 and R-46's 680 and 681 temporarily re-numbered "1776" and "1976" for the Bi-centennial . Also on hand were Lo-VT 4902, Lo-VM 5466, R-12 5760, R-15 6239, R-17 6609, R-30 8506, Hopper Car H-254 and Steeple Cab Electrics 5 and 6. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
