What bothers me the most is what the reporter said at the end of the piece......that they reached out to the MTA about the assaults this year and they referred them to NYPD.This proves that transit doesn't give a shyt about employee safety. Just let them go out on comp and in time just leave the payroll. Lieber and company doesn't want to scare the passengers. If the employees are not safe on the job, how can the riders be? |

I never heard it happening.Let's say I was the victim here. As an employee I could not sue transit or NYPD. I suppose I could sue the defendant civilly, but no doubt he has no money. All I think I could do is go out on comp for an on the job injury. If I was not able to work anymore due to a bad injury, perhaps the wife could sue because the "husband could not function as a husband", as in not able to do daily things that keeps the home functioning. But honestly I don't know if that's is legally possible. |

Found out this nimrod was smoking on the plat at CTL…TO asked this nimrod to stop smoking.. Then all hell broke loose.. This is where I have a problem why even engage people like that? We aren’t police they don’t pay us like that if they wanna smoke let them all we can do is notify OCC that’s it period no comments not a thing goes for us in the operating positions as well.. I tell new folks all the time “you don’t have a reason to argue with people while you on the clock”… |

Circa 1979, me and my friend were joyriding the system like we always did, we were on the GG platform on Metropolitan Avenue and there was this Puerto Rican guy, dressed up in the "bikerless biker gang" garb, smoking a joint. Cop across on the other platform sees him, walks over toward our platform, keys jingling so there was no way that the cop was sneaking up on him. Cop comes to our platform, guy is still smoking the joint. Cop takes his stick and smacks him on the head with it, he goes down, he gets locked up, he gets singlehandedly dragged away. THAT'S what needs to be done in order to curb this behavior! Of course 10 yrs later when I was rocking the black patch, I realized that there was a Police District in that station, which is where he was dragged to. |

Even as a young teen in 1979 I didn't think it vwas power tripping in this case. The guy was obviously a gang member, had to have seen the cop across the other side as we all did, he ignored the cop even when he was coming over to our side with the keys jingling. Hopefully the mope thought twice about doing it next time. |

I heard a story about an incident on a Green Lines bus circa 1960 where a passenger refused to pay his fare and brazenly announced to the operator of his refusal to do so. This was back in the days when bus operators still made change so then operator grabbed his changer bashed the fare evader over the head with it and pushed him right out the door. While in today’s world, the operator would be in deep s**t, apparently he suffered no consequences for his action. |

Thanks randyo, and you are absolutely right about how it was years ago on the transit system.When we were kids growing up in the '60s, bus operators, subway conductors and motormen were respected. They were working class heroes but they also were the "captains of their ships" and they were not to be messed with. Riding the subways in the early and mid-70s, transit cops were a welcome sight, especially at night. Today it is sadly a very different story. |

She could not continue and went to the hospital from there. No update on her condition. I expect radio silence from NYCT unless the news media gets wind of it. |
