[Photos] Myrtle El and Bway Jct, from my bike, on film

Posted by zac on Thu Jun 18 14:34:59 2026

Some new photos taken in response to the other day. These were shot with a Fuji GA645zi medium format film camera on Cinestill CS800T film. All shot, developed, scanned and edited myself. The originals are 80mp, but Flickr limits me to 2mp or so. They still look pretty good.

High res shots are here

Myrtle Ave Upper:

Fuji El-2

Fuji El-1

Fuji El-3

The L train going into and coming out of the J platform on the little used flying junction:

Fuji El-5

And one more shot of all of the trackways:

That's some cool shooting of complex Dual Contracts steelwork, zac! Well done and thanks for sharing!

Great photos, thanks.

I just drove by that area last week. Kind of eerie seeing the rusting skeletal remains of the Myrtle El. The area immediately underneath the Myrtle Avenue station complex is pretty grim.

To get the full resolution shots you need to download them from the link. There's a bonus shot that I took on a 4x5 camera that I built myself. That photo is 140mp, and 4x5 is about 12x the size of 35mm.

interesting pix. While building ones own is cool, do you wish to have a 4x5 with full tilts, swings?

Nice.

It's a good think that the structure can't be completely removed. It stands as a memory to a once great line.

Can any of you Imagin what that would be like if B'Way Jct were to be constructed underground?
It would rival 34th St. and 6th ave. in complexity.

Even more complex. Have you ever stood underneath it all? It was 3 BMT lines in and out, with access from each to the other and to the ENY yard, plus of course the IND. All of the trackways are still there except for the ones over Snedicker as you could see in that last pic.

And one more thing, the LIRR Bay Ridge branch and the Flatbush branch.
