Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sun Feb 1 09:18:32 2026 Tuscarora Almanac for February 1 and a Fprgotten Station 1917 – from The Book of First Runs The IRT Astoria Line is opened between Queensboro Plaza and Ditmars Boulevard. 1933 – from The Book of First Runs The IND 8th Avenue Line is extended from Chambers Street Station in Manhattan to Jay Street - Borough Hall Station is Brooklyn. New stations are opened at Broadway-Nassau Street in Manhattan and Jay Street-Borough Hall in Brooklyn. High Street-Brooklyn Bridge Station will not open until June 24, 1933. 1962 from The Book of First Runs Shuttle trains running between Euclid Avenue, Brooklyn and the Rockaways are now designated as "HH" trains. Although these are Rockaway Shuttles the roll-sign reading on the IND R-1/9's is "HH Fulton St Local." The first subway map to reflect this change was issued in 1965. The trains were listed as “HH Rockaway Local”. The first subway cars to carry the new reading were the R-32 A’s (3350-3649). 1996 – from The Book of First Runs Shoreline East Rail service is extended along the Northeast Corridor Line from Old Saybrook to New London, Connecticut. Tuscarora Book of Forgotten Stations (and parts thereof) No. 17 – Spring Street Middle Track Interborough Rapid Transit Company Contract One First Subway Spring Street Station Spring Street was a station on the First Subway and remains in service today as part of the IRT Lexington Avenue Line. What warrants interest is the unused center track-way which make the right of way five tracks wide. There is photographic evidence showing the center track at this location. The track was 600 feet long and connected to the express tracks at both ends with trailing point switches. It may have only been in use until 1906. It was probably used to turn non-revenue trains.
