Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Fri Dec 19 06:22:29 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for December 19 1953 – for The Book of Last Runs This will be the last day of operation for the two-track stub end terminal at Franklin Avenue on the Newark City Subway. This is being done to allow construction of a loop to turn the new PCC cars. Service is cut back temporarily to Anthony Street. The new loop is placed in service on December 21, 1953. 2017 – from The Book of First Runs A free transfer point is opened between the Chambers Street -World Trade Center station on the IND Eighth Avenue Line (E train platform) and the Cortlandt Street station of the BMT Broadway Line (R,W(also N nights). Note: This adds on to an already existing transfer point to the IRT Park Place station. Larry, RedbirdR33 |

This connection is at least the fourth location where IRT, IND, and BMT routes are part of a free transfer complex.The others are Times Square, Fulton Street, and 14th St-6th/7th Avenues. The Times Square transfers expanded in 2021 when the 42nd St shuttle was connected to the IND 6th Ave platforms. |
