Siemens Metro North Locomotives

Engine 301 made its' first revenue service run today.

I don't remember the last time a new piece of railroad equipment saw service in less than a year from the time it arrived on the property.

I thought these engines were manufactured domestically.

That isn't enough. Domestic ownership is a must. We used to export the best diesel locomotives to the world too.

We don't have domestic ownership of Kawasaki, the company building hundreds of new Subway Cars for us either.

Interesting note. In all MTA civil construction contracts there is a Buy USA clause, such as with steel. One example is with the SIR radio upgrade contract where steel used in the construction of communication shelters are taking place.
