Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Wed Sep 17 16:26:27 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for September 17 1879 – from The Book of First Runs The 9th Avenue El is extended from 104th Street to 125th Street with a stop at 116th Street. The station at 110th Street will not open until 1903. 1915 – from The Book of First Runs Evergreen Avenue station on the Myrtle Avenue Line is closed. It was located a few blocks south of the present Central Avenue station. It was a two track station with a single island platform. It was necessary to close this station in order to build the connection to the Broadway-Brooklyn Line. 1971 – from The Book of Last Runs This will be the last day in service for the pre-war (II) New York Central MU cars. The final run will be made on a Harlem Division train from Grand Central Terminal to Mount Vernon (West). 1979 – from The Book of First Runs A station for hiker’s known as Breakneck Ridge opens on Conrail’s Hudson Line.
