New York state to ban OPTO |

Posted by LuchAAA on Tue Jul 15 22:40:51 2025 New York state lawmakers have passed legislation banning OPTO.If Governor Hochul signs the bill, it becomes law. They want a T/O and C/R on every train. Will Hochul sign it? I guess it would go into effect in January. |

Not holding my breath on that one..Yet the union did its job got the legislation through to her desk.. There’s a few other bills regarding Transit Workers that was passed.. The Tier six one is a big one with the OT.. Like the OPTO one all it requires I believe is her signature. |

Please remember a bill can still become law if the Governor does not sign it. The Governor has to actually veto a bill for it not to become law.If the governor doesn't act on the bill within 10 days (excluding Sundays and holidays) after it's presented to them, it automatically becomes law as long as the legislature is not in recess more than 30 days. Of course we have the BS about the legislature being adjourned for more than 30 days (remember state legislature is a part time job) the governor has 30 days to sign. The legislature never is out of session more than 30 days. One of them sits up there in Albany during recess and goes into the chamber and calls the session to order. |
