Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Fri Jul 11 07:20:08 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for July 11 1966 – from The Book of Service Changes Weekday “F” trains will terminate at Second Avenue instead of Broadway-Lafayette Street. They will operate over the local tracks from West 4th Street south. This extension is being done to permit the express track south of Broadway-Lafayette Street to be connected into the Chrystie Street Subway. Normal service will resume on August 30. 1969 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day of PM rush hour skip - stop service on the BMT Jamaica Line. "KK" and "QJ" trains will continue to operate to 168 Street but will now make all stops. Tuscarora Forgotten Station No. 4 / Wingdale Consolidated Rail Corporation Harlem Line Wingdale Station Abandoned: October 29, 1977 Once upon a time there were two train stations in Wingdale, New York. The first of these travelling from Grand Central Terminal was called “State Hospital” located at milepost 69. The second was “Wingdale” itself at milepost 69.08. The “State Hospital” station was situated on the ground of the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, an institution well known to local railfans. The “Wingdale” station located at the point where Pleasant Ridge Road crosses the railroad track. Conrail was the operator of the Harlem Line in 1977 and management decided to close the “Wingdale” station on October 29, 1977. The “State Hospital” was renamed “Harlem Valley-Wingdale” is today (2019) served by the Metro-North Railroad. Source: “The Coming of the New York and Harlem” (1989) by Mr. Louis V.
