Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Thu May 15 07:18:58 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for May 15 1906 from The Book of First Runs The Philadelphia & Garrettford Street Railway begins trolley service from Upper Darby to Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania. This service is extended to Sharon Hill on March 15, 1906. This line is still in service today as the SEPTA Sharon Hill trolley. 1941 from The Book of First Runs The New York City Board of Transportation begins operation of the Dyre Avenue Line. Officially it is known as Construction Route 124 Dyre Avenue-East 174 Street Route. The new service will be know as the Dyre Avenue Local and it will operate between Dyre Avenue Terminal and the former NYW&B station at 180th Street at all times except midnight hours. Gate Cars 1581-1587 and 1589-1600 are assigned to revenue service while Gate Cars 107 and 1580 are designated as snow cars. This is the section of the former New York,Westchester & Boston Railway that was located within the city limits. Passenger train service on the NYW&B ceased on December 31, 1937. 1948 from The Book of Wrecks R-6-2 1192 is wrecked in a collision on Tracks 14 and 15 in the IND Concourse Yard. She may never have returned to service and was scrapped in August, 1958. 1953 from The Book of Last Runs The Long Island Railroad ends service on what was once known as the Stewart Line. It ran between Country Life Press and Mitchell Field, a two mile run. 1985 from The Book of Wrecks A southbound N Broadway - Sea Beach train derailed on the turnout south of Dekalb Avenue Station at 10:15 AM. The train was made up of eight R-32s; (s) 3767-6, 3858-9, 3806-7 and 3808-9 (n). Car 3766 was badly damaged. Limited service was restored for the evening rush but full service was not restored until the following morning. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
