Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Sun May 4 06:04:30 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for May 4 1957 – from The Book of First Runs Today marks the start of through service between the Dyre Avenue Line and the rest of the IRT Division. Route 2 7th Avenue Express trains will run between the Dyre Avenue Terminal in The Bronx and the New Lots Avenue Terminal in Brooklyn daily from about 6 AM to 8 PM. Route 9 Dyre Avenue Locals will continue to operate during the evening hours but will now terminate at the East 180 Street Station of the IRT White Plains Road Line instead of the former NYW&B Railway Station. There is no service during midnight hours on the Dyre Avenue Line. Source: New York Division Bulletin /December 1964 & October 1987, article by Mr. Bernard Linder 1961 – from The Book of First Runs BU Gate Motor 659 is transferred to the Shore Line Trolley Museum 1965 – from The Book of Wrecks A work crane was pushed through the bumping block at the end of the center track of the IRT Livonia Avenue Line just east of the portal and fell to the street. One man was killed and several were injured. The crane was 20149 x IRT 102. The remaining cars were Lo-V Work Motors 20376 x 5496, 20251 x 5475, 20273 x 4986, 20380 x 5446, 20294 x 5600, 20273 x 4986 and Flat Car S - 75. Lo-V Motor 5600 is now on the roster of the Trolley Museum of New York at Kingston. 1974 – from The Book of Last Runs This is the last day for streetcar service in El Paso, Texas. Larry, RedbirdR33 |
