The R44's have NYCTA Staten Island Bus maps displayed in the car.SIR is under the MTA Subway division. I would believe the SI bus map would be better for SI commuters that the subway map. |

Based on a recent R211S video, it has a special map of both SIR and Staten Island buses. It basically sounds like they're prioritizing knowing where the S53 goes over knowing which subway line goes to Pelham Bay Park or something. That is probably more valuable information for riders on those trains. From the subway standpoint, while naming every stop on the SIR may not be essential for typical subway riders, it might as well happen if there is room, especially given that it's within MetroCard/OMNY territory. And it doesn't seem like space is an issue in the lower lefthand corner of the subway map though. |

Unless they changed it, it’s not a special map, it’s the standard SI bus map. The SIR is shown more prominently on the SI bus map than the subway is shown on the bus maps of the other 4 boroughs. Before the late 90s, the subway map didn’t have most of the SIR(T). They added it when they switched the map to also have the entire LIRR and MN on the back. That’s why the SIR is there. |
