Southeastern Railway Museum

Posted by cortelyounext on Fri Apr 11 15:28:42 2025

Upcoming long layover in Atlanta and I was wondering if anyone here has been to said museum in Duluth, Georgia and, if so, is it worth a visit? Answer the question.

We all saw this on the OTchat board.

20 miles from the airport to the museum in Atlanta traffic, allow yourself time.

Olog-hai told me to move it to this board so who am I to argue? When said individual speaks, I listen so as not to incur they wrath, get defeated, and quite possibly, humiliated. I'll allow for the traffic in the event I decide to go to the museum.

Yes, I really enjoy the place. Been meaning to go back someday.

They have a bus museum. Almost all from Atlanta so you won't see a Neoplan there or anything. All covered and you can board all of the buses.

The railroad museum is in a very big building too. Very nice atmosphere. You have a pullman you can board and a rich assortment of cars. Again I really liked the atmosphere when I went there like 6 years ago or more.

There is a ride or two I believe, but I don't know if they go anywhere or just a few yards on an engine. I did not get to do it.

Of course check the hours. The south has annoying operating hours. Even public parks are closed on Mondays which make no sense.
I think I lost all of my images in an HD crash so I can't give you any unless I find a few in the cloud after this transmission.

Atlanta, of course, has the Delta museum which is on my list. But they're refurbishing until about May.
