Turning s/b W's at Canal St doesn't look like a simple move

Not to hard but trains must be fumigated.

Back when the EE was running, alternate EEs turned back at Canal St during rush hours.

Back when the EE was running, alternate EEs turned back at Canal St during rush hours.

If it was an EE, then this would be Canal St on the 8 Ave line. But at the BMT Canal St, looking at the track diagram and labeling the tracks. 1, 2, 3, 4. from left to right---- then a s/b R leaving Canal would have to go s/b from track 1 to track 2, continue s/b from track 2 to track 3, then change ends and go n/b from track 3 to track 4. I guess when he's changing ends sitting on track 3, he's not interfering with n/b service.

I’m referring to the BMT EE service that ran from Nov 1967 to June 1976 so it was Canal on the Bway Line. I handled the service both as a Tw/M and later as a T/D at City hall Tower.

Sorry, I messed up. So when an LL was turned back after Canal, would it have gone through the same switching? Head s/b, switch from track 1 to track 2, then track 2 to track 3, and change ends and go n/b from 3 to track 4?

You have the track number confused. BMT/IND track number are lcl tks numbered 1 and 2, exp tks numbered 3 and 4. Odd numbered tks are S/B even numbered tks are N/B. The middle tks between Canal and City Hall have exp numbers because it was originally intended to have all Bway service operate via tunnel with the bridge tks operating west along Canal St. Anyway, the relay move at Canal St was the S/B train would proceed from B1 tk into either B3 or B4 tk S/O Canal and return from either of those tks across to B2 and proceed north.
