Posted by irtredbirdr33 on Thu Mar 13 06:06:32 2025 Tuscarora Almanac for March 13 1918 – from The Book of First Runs 67 Foot Long Steel subway cars are assigned to the BMT No. 10 Myrtle Avenue-Chambers Street Line. The No. 10 had been using wooden Gate Cars since it began operating in 1914. 1998 – from The Book of Last Runs The Long Island Railroad closes seven stations today. Five are on the Montauk Branch in Queens; Penny Bridge, Haberman, Fresh Pond, Glendale and Richmond Hill. Also closed are Mill Neck on the Oyster Bay Branch and Holtsville on the Mainline. AFAIK, in 1918 when the company was still the BRT, the lines were not yet numbered. The numbering of lines did not start till the BMT took over in 1923. |
