Isn't there some kind of a deal where a place can pay the MTA (yeah, I know this is PATH) for naming rights, like "8th Street - NYU?"

So maybe the museum forked over some money?

AFAICT, the only relevant commercial entity that would be involved here is the Stonewall Inn. The station will be renamed after Stonewall National Monument. There's no museum.

Why can't they add, "Carnegie Hall" to the 57th St.-7th Ave. station? It was already there when the BMT Broadway line was built! Lincoln Center OTOH didn't even exist when the original IRT line was built, but 66th St. was promptly renamed back in the 60s.

If there is no such museum, then the original post is probably false. Why would PATH name a station after a museum that doesn't exist?

Steve: Do you remember this old chestnut?

Tourist: "How do I get to Carnegie Hall".

New Yorker: "Practice son, practice".

Yep, sure do.:) I still dream of playing there someday, but if it doesn't happen, it's OK.
