That must have been quite a wreck to destroy so many Standards. I wonder if the fact that they were quite old by then contributed to the decision to scrap them. |

What is intersting is that the later Steels were not rebuilt and were the first ones scrapped with the exception of some 2600s which were split between those that were retained as single A cars and others that were inserted in between two 2400 series cars replacing the 4000 series trailer in former BX units. |

I seem to remember 2899 was rebuilt and survived to run on the Eastern Division lines until they were all retired in 1969. 2899 was coupled to a pair of consecutively numbered 2700's. |

As I recall except for the 2600s that were either retained as single As or used to replace the 4000 series trailers in the former BX units only 2400-2599 were rebuilt. |
