The Amtrak Media Center reports, in addition to the above, the train has 2 locos + 8 cars with 12 crew members. Some passengers have already been taken to a high school gym. |

I saw pictures of people not only walking around the ROW next to the train, but walking on top of the side of the cars, as well as people in the gym. I guess it is a good sign that a lot of peole are walking around.I am glad the baggage car is back in the consist as a buffer against impact, but the whole train flipped anyway. Dump truck driver is likely dead, but I have not heard definitely. |

The entire train is wyed in Chicago and LA. I also saw video of that same exact train taken 23 hours prior to the wreck. Baggage car is in front, behind engines 133 & 166, ahead of the trans-dorm. |

Wouldn't that be the norm as in having the baggage car on the rear end of the train b/c if it was on the head end, the baggage would have to go thru the platform with loading passengers?I remember when #49 the Lake Shore Ltd. was loading at GCT, the baggage car was always at the block with minimal interference with passenger loading. |

On Superliners, the baggage car is in front with the trains-dorm for crew access.On the Lake Shore, the NY section is attached to the rear of the Boston section west of Albany, so the NY baggage car is at the rear. When the Boston secion had a baggage car, it was in front. |
