As I said - I haven't seen it from the street yet but I think it is just south of the original entrance/exit (which was from track 4) which was at the northwest side of Broadway at 43rd St. I think the new entrance is near the old one but extends into the pedestrian mall (on Broadway between 43rd and 42nd Sts) created in the Bloomberg administration.I will try to get back there this week (if someone else gets there first please advise). |

It should be on the northside of 42nd Street on top where Broadway used to cut through. The mezzanine would be large enough to handle those crowds, including during New Year's Eve. -William A. Northwest or southwest - it depends n where you are standing. If you are on the north side of 43rd St then the entrance is on the SW side. If you are looking north from 42nd then it is on the NW side.William, thanks |

This new entrance is maybe 20 feet from the old one it replaced, but the stairs go straight down in a south direction. I too will miss the view of the IRT uptown trains. I hope it's restored, but doesn't look like it will happen. |

Doesn't track 4 still have to connect to the uptown local track? That's its only connection to anything else. So what would stop someone from looking down that trackway? |

Doesn't track 4 still have to connect to the uptown local track? From the shuttle platform, you could look down at the west end of Track 4, but seeing just the curve of the track that will lead into the uptown local track of the #1. Or, ride an uptown #1 when it leaves TSQ, and watch from the right side (against the wall), and see briefly the shuttle track #4 only for only one second. -William A. Padron ["Shuttle"] |

I believe how it was supposed to work is a train on track 4 would cross over to track 1 and go out via the portion that connects track 1 to the Lexington Avenue line. |

Tracks 1 and 4 are isolated between each other with those I-beam middle stanchions, and have no provisions for any such track crossover switches.Just like with the new wide entrance at TSQ (42nd-43rd/Broadway), there is a new very wide staircase covering former tracks 2 and 3 at GC-42 (Madison Avenue). So Track 4 to the N/B track of the West Side Line, and Track 1 to the S/B track of the East Side Line. And so it goes... -William A. Padron ["(S)"] |

Not sure on that.As of today any view of the track 4 connection area is blocked by blue construction walls. It is possible they may construct a doorway marked "Authorized Personnel Only" or something like that. That area can't bee seen from the new platform area. The most you can see from there is a small portion of the original track 4 platform and since that is on a curve you can't see much. |

The only thing you'll see from the new Times Square shuttle platform is track 4 disappearing into a dark tunnel, the same as you see on track 1 at Grand Central. The rest of the Times Square shuttle complex is for employee use only. |

Ah!I had previously heard they were going to permanently close off the connection between Track 4 and the original IRT and make it where getting shuttle trains on and off the shuttle route would have to be done entirely using the connection to Track 1 of the shuttle from the Lexington Avenue Line. And you're right, the only connection (obviously severed with the new work) was Track 1 to Track 3. So they had to keep the connect to Track 4/original IRT after all. |

Actually, as originally planned, tk 4 was supposed to be taken out of service permanently and the shuttle use only tk 1 and tk 3. That way the connection to the West Side line could have been severed. They figured out a way to retain the connection to tk 4 and so it was tk 3 that was taken O/S. |
