Philadelphia Trolley Diner (w/PCC Car) Set To Be Gone?

Posted by William A. Padron on Wed Oct 20 11:08:46 2021

Sent to me via e-mail. Could this be heading for the wrecking ball and scrap yard?

Why can't they relocate the diner?

Hello Chuck G and Bob V

I assume you knew already -- but the trolley car had to be removed from the diner land-grounds by March 2020. In July 2020 local TV and news media reported that the trolley car would be donated (or whatever) to the local legendary and huge FILLMORE Rock & Roll night club venue. It had been planned to set it up in its courtyard as a concession stand. See link to the July 2020 article below;

https://www.phillyvoice.com/trolly-car-ice-cream-shoppe-fillmore-philadelphia-courtyard-fishtown-weinstein/

The Fillmore like all other music, movie theater, and related large crowd entertainment, has suffered likely financial losses due to the Jan 2020 thru present COVID problems and restrictions. I could not find any more info as to whether the trolley was actually MOVED to the Fillmore site...or not. Or if it was removed from the diner grounds already.

I have not driven up that way (the diner location) in 3 years Today I called the FILLMORE site phone number today and got a recording stating:

"Out of an abundance of caution, The Box Office at Fillmore is still closed until further notice. Please check our website for any further developments, etc etc etc..."

So I don't know if FILLMORE presently has the trolley body and have stored it somewhere, or worse, if the acceptance deal later quietly unraveled due to COVID and the trolley car was rejected and scrapped...or what.

Regards - Joe F
