Posted by Q23 on Thu Jun 17 05:26:05 2021 Some footage on the LIRR over the past few months. First set is footage onboard an M9 train between Little Neck & Penn Station, and an M7 train between Douglaston & Penn Station. Between Douglaston and Woodside, trains operated on the eastbound track because of concrete tie replacement. I wanted to get footage of trains operating through the eastbound track, as well as an M9 ride all in one (which I got with the second video). The main difference is that the M9 ride is during the afternoon, and the M7 is more of an evening ride.  For two weekends in May, West Hempstead Branch service was extended to Jamaica. Trains operated express between Westwood and Jamaica, while passing through track 1 at Valley Stream. Trackwork and signal work was preventing trains from layup and turning at Valley Stream. Honestly I feel that the service should always operate to/from Jamaica during off-peak hours because trains can operate at the same headway, with more and better connections to trains.
