More like Dyre Avenue was a much latter day substitution.

Even though “range anxiety” is anti-EV FUD, there are still insufficient public charging resources. Basically unless you have a driveway or garage attached to your house, you can’t get an EV.

The Dyre Avenue line, as a subway line, opened in 1941.

I never had a gasoline pump attached to my home.

I agree being able to charge up at home has big advantages, but if you have easy access to high speed public charging stations an EV could be a fine vehicle to own.

Everybody's in a hurry.

Be it waiting (or supposed to be) at a "Don't Walk sign".

A vehicle operator at a red light/ yielding to make a left turn.

A person waiting for a train.

A person waiting for a bus.

as a former cyclist (I stopped after my right eye quit) I am appalled by much bicylist behavior. That said, given the blame the victim crap in a majority of police reports when an auto or truck wipes out a cyclist, I consider the very few cyclist-ped incidents less of an issue sad though they are.

How long does it take to fully charge an EV from 1/4 "full" to fully charged? Tell me because I have no idea. And how easy is it to find a charging station?

How long does it take me to pump 18 gallons of gasoline into my car starting from 1/4 full to a full tank? Maybe 2 or 3 minutes according to how fast it comes out.

You would never use a charging station to fully charge a car, because charging slows as the battery becomes more full.

According to Tesla, it takes 5 minutes to add 75 miles and 15 minutes to add 180 miles of range at a V3 supercharger, which is the most powerful kind.

The emptier you are, the faster you charge. I had 60 miles left and was charging at iover 500 mph for the first 20 or 30 minutes, so after 30 minutes, I was over half full and that's all you really need. You can always charge an hour or two later and get more.

Of course they aren't `anticar`.

Because You made such a statement tying yourself to a political opinion, then you should be perfectly willing to be rebuked using the same policies.

Case in point.
Plans often issued by so called democratic party members are met with strong objections By REPUBLICANS JUST BECAUSE.
NO VALID REASONS TO OBJECT..JUST FINDING FAULT FOR ITS OWN SAKE.
YOU are the prime example of that.

I agree with you 100% that electric charging is slower than filling a car with gasoline. I guess when charging an EV one has to close one's eyes and think of Greenland.

So what is your point that “of course” Republicans aren’t anti car.?

I wasn’t talking about all Republicans and all Democrats. Just the ones running for mayor. You will find pro and anti car on both sides. And asking for policy that considers all fairly, does not make one pro-car.

In the past year drivers in my neighborhood soup up their cars and motorcycles to blast ear-shattering decibels when driving down the street at Indianapolis Speedway speeds (I forget the name of the annual fossil fuel festival) even though there are traffic lights at every corner. Of course, LAPD is nowhere in sight. Fare beating on the subway is at epic percentages. Officers in the stations complain "Our hands are tied", which may be official dogma for all I know.
I am what is sneeringly called "transit dependent" by motorists who would rather drive on jammed freeways versus a fast trip on the subway, which is being expanded in anticipation of the 2026 Olympic Games in Los Angeles..

He was sucking money into his authorities that should have gone into the city's coffers, to be used to benefit the entire city, not just motorists (who of course were an even tinier minority then than they are now).

The fact that he hurt schools and hospitals in the same way doesn't mean that he wasn't responsible for the disinvestment in transit. He was.
