Good news, bad news for transit in migration report |
|
Posted by Peter Rosa on Tue Apr 20 17:26:55 2021 Today's NYT has a report on pandemic migration patterns. It looks at Post Office change of address forms, which seems to be a fairly accurate way of determining where people are moving. For the most part, 2020 population changes were much the same as before. Cities that were growing rapidly in 2019 kept growing rapidly in 2020, while declining cities continued to decline. Unfortunately for transit, there were two big exceptions, cities that had been growing but which changed things in 2020 and underwent significant declines. They are New York and San Francisco, two of the heaviest transit-using cities. |
