I grew up riding these, and aside from the digitized route signs, they haven't changed a bit :)You can tell when someone's riding them for the first time, as they don't know to "step down" to actuate the back doors. Luckily everyday riders are always ready to give newbies an earful when they make that mistake! |

Chuck -- Thanks for the photos and update. I had heard this was about to happen., Obviously, the present INEPTA heads were not aware that the K cars were used in revenue service on Route 15 back in 1992 -- almost 30 years ago -- see video link belowhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=agqMIQtAAA8 regards - Joe F |

That was before the line was deemed to be ADA. People welcomed the K cars , they had A/C which was welcomed in the summer. |

Hello again ChuckI ALSO think the present testing was done specifically to test the all brand new streetcar trackage installed from just east of Frankford Ave. on Girard Ave. to the entirely new streets (with its 2 tracks) rerouting along I-95 and the trackage installed new on Richmond Street and the new loop there at Westmoreland & Richmond. As well as to check the overhead fitting and alignment vs: car rooftop trolley poles. These Kawasaki cars would be the first (and only trolley fleet now available) to test the new trackage and overhead wire and alignments. Of course, the test cars had to come from Callowhill Barns in West Philly so these cars actually had to run over most of the Girard Ave route anyway to get to the all newly installed trackage by I-95 corridor north to Richmond Loop that had to be tested. But I am positive you already know that anyway. But for those who don't, well... that's it above. regards - Joe F |

Thank you, the cars used 59th st. from Callowhill district , then R. on Girard. This is a 1990 track map..1990 map Of course , today , Cumberland loop is gone and it looks different at the eastern end with the new alignment. and loop. |

Looks like some poor PCC has its chassis ripped out and rebodied. Whatever happened, it doesn't like it, you can tell by the sad-face expression on the front! |

T one time there was an Acme supermarket right at the end of track in media. Due to the number of railfans photographing the cars at that spot it was often referred to as the most photographed Acme super market in the world. |
