Posted by Q23 on Sat Sep 26 23:38:13 2020 Footage of (E) trains to/from Delancey Street, (Q) 2nd Avenue shuttle trains, as well as other stuff.(E) trains are running via the (F) between Jackson Heights and Delancey Street, while the (F) operates via 8th Ave in both directions on multiple upcoming weeknights and weekends. ![]() The weekend of September 12-13th, (Q) trains were operating in two sections, 96th Street-Lexington Ave-63 Street and Times Square to Coney Island. The shuttle train consisted of an R68A and an R46. Of course, because there was no display for Lexington Ave-63 Street, the rollsign/destination signs were off. On the R68A, most of the signs were set up to 57 St/7 Ave and Coney Island (not even on the shuttle route). ![]() Here's some other footage, mainly of (C) trains: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Thanks for viewing! |

That's pretty wacky! So they turned the E trains by sending them into the tunnel towards East Broadway? Why didn't they do the usual bit of closing down the line from Delancey St to York St? |

There is a diamond Xover at the S/E of Delancey St that is used to turn the trains. They probably don’t go all the way into E Bway at all. |

They likely continued trains to Delaney Street so that Williamsburg riders still have a connection to Midtown. If they didn't, they'd have to go to Canal Street and backtrack. |

Thank You...I'm curious why in situations where it's not possible to show proper destination signs with non-NTTs, why not either: 1) If NTTs or R46s are available for the route, use them and program in proper destinations or... 2) If they have to for whatever reason, use non-NTTs (maybe no NTTs are on the route at all, like the 1 or 3, or none are available for a shuttle operation), can't they set the side signs on an R68/R68A/R62/R62A/R32 to "Special" or blank? I'd think vague or non-existent signage, is better than totally wrong signage.... |
