The Whitehall Street station on the BMT Broadway Line opens for passenger service. Trains had been terminating there since January 5, 1918 but had been running light south of Rector Street.

Track 3 of the 42nd Street Shuttle is taken out of service for about three months. This will permit replacement of the wooden platform over Track 2 at Times Square with a concrete one.

Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad

The Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad re-opens the former Laurel Line Crown Avenue Tunnel. The tunnel will now be used by DLRR freight trains and trolleys of the Electric City Trolley Museum. The first run is made by former Red Arrow Center Door Car No. 76.
