All I know is, the nation is riddled with half completed or never finished projects both public and private from the Depression that never came to be.Now when something economically negative happens, we freak out, and everybody gets a bailout. If that subway was started today, instead of being a sunk cost, it would be completed no matter what. |

I’m not sure about anything being “demolished” outright or even backfilled, but I’ve seen photos of portion of the subway being used for installation so of underground water or sewer lines. |

AFAIK above ground portions were demolished, tunnels, not. There was a Cincy Public TV doc around a decadeago which came out as aa DVD.IIRG, fiber optics were strung in the extant subway tunnels. N of the tunnelse the ROW, which had originally been a canal bed were wasted on an Interstate. As to when this was stopped, the history is that the anti-transit folkbarely missed out blocking the project early on and once the money began to run out, were successful in stopping the project. (welcome to a preview of the SAS in the 70s). of the two urls on the DVD package, oneis dead (available forpurchase) but http://www.thecincinnatisubway.com/ still exists. |
