Tuscarora Almanac for July 20 (Corrected)

Posted by IRTRedbirdR33 on Fri Jul 31 08:56:20 2020

I try to be accurate in these posts but every now and then a typo slips in. THe correct closing date for the 58th Street Trolley Depot was July 20 (not 30) 1947.

Tuscarora Almanac – July 20, 1947 – The Book of Last Runs

Brooklyn, New York
New York City Board of Transportation
BMT Division

The last trolley car departs from the 58th Street Depot. The depot was located at Third Avenue and 58th Street. It was served by the following routes at one time or another;

30-Eighth Avenue
31-86th Street
32-Fifth Avenue
33-Hamilton Avenue-Bay Ridge
34-65th Street-Bay Ridge
37-Third Avenue
38-West End

The last line to operate at this depot was No. 30 Eighth Avenue. This line was then transferred to the 9TH Avenue Depot after some track changes were made.

The building is still there and is used as some sort of warehouse. You can still see the initials BCRR for Bkln City RR on the 3 Av facade of the building and the place where a clock used to be.
