This was before major development. I'm guessing the hillside went away as development proceeded. There are other examples of hills and slopes being leveled for housing development in and around NYC.

For example, the Collect Pond in Lower Manhattan sat on a slope, but when it was filled in to build the area around Foley Square, the hillside was also leveled and graded.

It's not Jamaica Avenue because there are no tracks on the street.

Likewise not New Utrecht or Gravesend Avenues. Perhaps Liberty Avenue.

That said, I feel sorry for the people in the modest frame houses, who lived on a dirt road and suddenly have steelwork in front of their homes.

North of Seneca is two-track.

Up until Seneca is built three wide.

Looking at the diagonal angle of next truss beam it looks like a turn is just ahead.

If not Seneca maybe approaching Jamaica Ave. That stretch between Fulton and Jamaica.

I am thinking Roosevelt Avenue, east of 103 Street / Alburtis Avenue.

The elevated structure is mounted on the sidewalks, as is the case on the Flushing line.

There are still a number of modest frame houses on either side of the el along that stretch of Roosevelt Ave.

And the dress the girl is wearing has a short hem, which makes me think the 1920s rather than earlier. And that is the time period when the Corona el was being extended.

The hill on the left side is a mystery, though.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

You're right, that should help narrow things down a bit.

You're on to something. In addition to being in Queens, if you notice in the distance, the completed structure curves a bit to the right & seems to be raising higher over the street.
That might be a few helpful hints.

And it does kind of appear to narrow to two tracks ahead.

Architecture of homes are Ridgewood.

All the el structures in Queens except for the Astoria Line have their columns on the sidewalks.

I believe the columns at Seneca are not on the sidewalk. That would be between Myrtle and Onderdonk where the M curves toward Forest.

Going strictly on the shape & design of the el structure in the distance, and disregarding the surroundings, I'm going to say that's on Roosevelt Ave. around 55th St. or so.

Also the height. It looks like one of those low clearance stretches we've all seen from the street.

Roosevelt near Queens Blvd or Palmetto on M line between Seneca and Wyckoff.

I don't think so. Note in the image that the first angled truss sticks out quite far to the left. But that does not occur at the curve just RR south of Seneca.

BINGO!!!! YOU ARE THE WINNER!!!
55st & Roosevelt Ave is correct. The view is looking east (geographically). The downward slope and curve shows the downhill structure being raised to be high enough to clear the new LIRR Woodside Sta. constructed for the Woodside improvement program to eliminate grade crossings in the area.
The hill on the left of the picture is from receint excavations for the Mathews Apt complex that dominated the Woodside/Sunnyside area and is there to this day.

GOOD JOB!

The lattice work in the distance made me think Roosevelt/58th St., and I just backed up a couple of blocks and said 55th. Around where Skillman Ave. branches off of Roosevelt, if I'm not mistaken.

I didn't know they made it a one-way street there. It was two-way between Onderdonk and Seneca for years.

Based on an interconversation with another poster and a Google check, Palmetto is out since those columns are in the street and not on the sidewalk.
