They can still take lots of Zzzzzs during non-rush hours.

I heard 7 were running during the AM rush.

So a few were running all day.

A warning not to use this car in revenue service, IINM. It gets affixed to officially retired equipment, which the R-32s were until a few weeks ago.

They were officially retired? Or being held out of service?

Two questions:

How many R32s back in service. One poster said 7 trainsets so that would be 56 cars, but I imagine there are additional consists in the ENY yard.

What is the status of the R179 fleet?

Thank you to all who answer.

There were 7 trains running yesterday morning.

Naturally there are extra cars lying around to substitute for bad ordered cars and if additional R32 trainsets are needed. IDK the total number of R32 cars actually available. We would need someone with NYCT Car Equipment access to get that info.

The R179's are out of service till FURTHER NOTICE. And those are the words of NYCT. Saying anything else as to an approximate time of the R179's coming back would be setting a deadline which NYCT will not do.

Are crews frustrated?

T/O's who prefer tech trains and one hand operation?

C/R's who have to make announcements and stand and be seen?

I guess some miss full length cabs and benefits that come with it?

Personal preference I suppose.

I haven't been in the subway since mid March.

I booked off right before I was scheduled to take the R110B classes and had no regrets. I got regular deadhead from my 1757 Lefferts trip to 207, maybe 2 or 3 times dropping back out of place to Westcode or R38 if that train was in my interval and the road was coming down jacked up. I bailed out of the TA before the A division was cleansed of its redbird equipment I did prefer SMEE cube cabs all along with the door check on and windows down if i could tolerate the noise

The cars were never officially retired. 24 cars remained "available for service" after April 2020. Additional cars were then reactivated when the R179s were pulled from service in June.

We always heard 110 were to be left around for the R211.
