I visited Chicago two years ago and felt completely safe on the CTA system. I did take care to inform myself about the highest crime areas and avoided those, but the Loop stations were fine. |

I get on website that reviews all of this. The Loop subway and L stations are the worst places to be, but most of it between between Roosevelt and Division. This not conveniently just a South Side situation anymore. It has spread like cancer.You can easily be beaten and mugged in broad daylight in the Near North and Streeterville areas, especially females. Shoplifting along Mag Mile is rampant. The up-scale merchants and building owners don't like bad publicity, especially in the Water Tower area. Don't expect to read this in the Trib or Suntimes. |
