Who is "they"? Yeah, he's the poster boy for Fox and other conservatives to argue against bail reform. He is hardly a typical case. Why he would still be released when he had those outstanding warrants for missing other court dates, I don't know.

"“At least before, he’d be remanded and be behind bars for a couple of days. He wouldn’t be able to victimize people,” Assistant Chief Gerald Dieckmann, the No. 2 officer in the NYPD’s Transit Bureau, told the New York Daily News."

Hmm. So wouldn't he commit the crimes anyway after the 2 days in jail were up? Bail reform is not the problem.

Plus, almost all his 139 arrest/releases were before bail reform.

He didn't mean 2 days literally. Plus, due to his record, he might have been remanded.

NY needs to repeal Bail Reform, and keep Rikers open. Nothing better for a perp than a couple of months on Rikers. And don't tell me about poor Kalief Browder. If he didn't steal that backpack he wouldn't have ended up killing himself in Rikers.

The NYBar Association and Democrats are still defending this stupid insane law.

only spider-pig, italianstallion, math is racist boy, and jayzeebmt could be dumb enough not to have some type of catch all clause to not release someone 139 times!

I wonder if the civil servant who wrote the north korean treaty was this dumb?

Because according to the ridiculous law the Democrats drew up, which leaves no authority or common sense on the judges, says he has to be let out.

So far, you can't vote if you are in jail.

But release everyone during an election year with an Obama-like failed catch and release bill, you don't even need to worry about spider-pig talking about that racist electorial college!

It's the only way the Democrats have a chance of getting votes. And obviously all these criminals want the Democrats, as they are free to do whatever they want and run amuck.

Careful! AIM told me just last month (or was it 2 months ago) that most criminals aren't Democrats and you can't assume such things.

Kalief Browder probably was innocent.

This is why we need an eye-in-the-sky society. To catch criminals and prevent the system from wrongfully accusing people.

I think you can vote, provided you have not been convicted of a felony. Aren't pre-trial detainees with no felony convictions given absentee ballots if they request them? And likewise for those sentenced for misdemeanors only? There must have been court cases on these issues.

If seeing a police car 2 blocks from a voting station is "intimidation" and suppresses the vote, I would think having to go though all that trouble would logically be worse.
