Immediately I thought of Aqueduct Race Track. But that would be true of any terminal station, also. |

First, unlike the other stations Mentioned, there is only one platform for the N/N track only. the second is that when first opened, whenever the race track was opened, regular Rockaway service single tracked between Liberty Jct and Howard Bch so trains of both directions stopped there. The reason there was only one platform is that when the race tk’s grandstand was moved away from the old Aqueduct station the NYRA only agreed to pay for the construction of one platform, the one physically closes to the grandstand. If the TA wanted another one it would have had to pay for the construction so it was easier to simply write a single tk operation into the regular timetables that spend money on another platform which was only open during racing season anyhow. |
