New stations are opened at Ellsworth-Federal, Tasker-Morris, and Snyder Avenue. Tuscarora Almanac – January 13, 1981 – The Book of Wrecks New York City Transit Authority Year of deferred maintenance, poor management and municipal neglect finally caught up with the New York subway system today. 2,117 subway cars could not answer the call to service being laid up for repairs. That was nearly one out of three. It would take several years and a lot of hard work before the subway system would climb out of the pit. Larry, RedbirdR33 |

Synder Avenue was the terminal for the BSL until 1973, when it was extended with Oregon and Pattison (now whatever) stations added. You can still see signs of the old terminal going into Snyder. |
