How come the article doesn't say what the pricing policy is?

Sounds more like an overblown pricing error. $25K to remove seats to accommodate wheelchairs?

Good for Senator Duckworth, who left limbs behind in Iraq. Anderson/Gardner have outraged yet another US Senator.

No error. They meant it. Yes, Amtrak is that stupid and arrogant, if not defiant of ADA.

In order to accommodate them, they would need to pull the car/cars from service, remove the seats, have to schedule to ensure the same train is on the run they will be taking back, pull the car/cars from service again and put the seats back.

Part of the problem that this article doesn't mention is that some, if not all, were planning on using bulky and heavy power chairs.

I'm not saying they shouldn't be accommodated, I'm just saying they should realize what that accommodation requires any maybe consider traveling with smaller chairs to make things easy for everyone. Some of them just sit in normal seats with their smaller chairs folded and stowed, kinda like what an airline does.

The government should nationalize healthcare so we can have more of these types of articles.

We'd be swamped with articles about seniors being left on gurneys in the ER for 48 hours, and stories like this would get buried.

First off, power chairs are in general narrow enough to get through the doorway to/from the vestibule, and to turn in the vestibule to go through those doors.
Secondly, when the Amfleet carswere purchased the ideawas that the seats could be easily movedto increase or decrease seating capacity.
Third, simply assigning an extracafe/business class car with several removedseats would have provided both easy accommodation of the riders and more net space onthe train.
The object should be "serve your market".
For comparison, Amtrak has removeda 4 seat boothfrom some of the new V L II diners to make space for garbage cans.
