"Decommissioned" Railroad Line in Queens

Posted by gp38/r42 chris on Wed Jan 15 18:25:37 2020

At first I assumed this was Rockaway line, but the tracks on the right look too new to me.
What is this? Is it Rockaway?

That explains why the rails look 1980s or 90sish

No I was thinking of the way the track is constructed with clips. Rockaway was like the track on the left

The art is that he did nothing, but he's making us imagine that something is there. :-)

So when they decommissioned the line, they ripped out the line beyond this point? No way for an easy restoration?

One of the viaducts connecting the cutoff to the main has been removed altogether. I think the other may still be there, but I wouldn't want to be on a train using it even if it is.

It is on the northern bank of Dutch Kills (facing northwest).

Is the single track just to the south over the "LIRR (Dutch Kills) Bridge" still active?
