Something I learned while visiting Philly last Christmas:All of the 112 Kawasaki LRVs from the original order are still working (according to SEPTA). Especially impressive considering the number of collisions I've seen them get in to over the years. |

I did multiple rides on the F Market this weekend. Always great to ride a PCC, even with automated modernized announcements. None of it was specifically for railfanning either. It just goes where you need to go as a tourist. |

If it were possible, there need to be at least 2 more cars added to the roster. One would be a PCC in the original tan with red stripe that was on the Bkln PCCs when first delivered and another would be the 2 tone green and silver of the Wash DC PCC when operated by Capital Transit Co. |

It makes me wonder what Brooklyn and Queens would be like today if they kept most or all of their trolley networks. Presumably, it would be something like Philadelphia, with modern trolleys, and lots more remnants of trolley tracks and wires around the borough. |

The former SEPTA employee who worked with Brookville on building the PCC-II's was on the trip. He said that the 18 best PCCs were separated out from the rest of the fleet to send for rebuilding. By the time all the rebuilding details had been worked out and SEPTA was ready to ship the cars to Brookville, the cars couldn't be located. It turned out that a different management contingent had sent the 18 best PCCs to San francisco. |
