It's the A. It's color is blue. They even use a circular bullet that looks like the one for NYC's A subway line. We should be glad NY's MTA didn't sue LACMTA for using it, I guess. Or 1) is the A one of the lines whose bullet isn't trademarked, or 2) did the two MTAs come to some sort of agreement over the use of a white A in a blue circle?

It's good to see LA investing in their system. Too bad they killed off the Pacific Electric system in the first place.

I don't know, but LA is using a lighter shade of blue. The fonts look the same, but maybe not.

Agreed.

Yeah we sure could use lots of single tracked, infrequent, street running rail these days. ;)

And we still don't have a one-seat ride on rail rapid transit from Downtown to the LAX airport in Los Angeles, the second biggest city in the U.S.

We have a one seat ride to Burbank airport though. And that may get tons more service in a few years.

Signage standards are a serious business. LACMTA uses Scala Sans Bold, not Helvetica.

(NY) MTA didn't sue LACMTA for stealing their agency name, so why would they bother about this. :) ( I may be wrong about this, but I think the NY and LA MTAs are the only ones where the T stands for Transportation instead of Transit)

A somewhat-related anecdote: In the 90s shortly before I left Southern California, MTA decided to put stickers on the buses related to the yard that the bus was based in. Now in LA, those locations have been called Divisions, possibly back to the Pacific Electric and Los Anegeles Railway days. The sticker was round with a design related to the area the division served and then the division name. Only it wasn't XXX Division, it was XXX Depot. Sound familiar?

No new ideas in Hollywood.

Yes... except the green line still requires a transfer to ether the “A” or Expo to get downtown and the transfer station (along with the peoplemover) won’t open for several more years after the new branch opens. At this rate, the Regional Connector will open first.

It's true that there is no direct rail connection from LAX to DTLA, but it's not quite as significant as it may sound since DTLA isn't as significant a destination as downtowns in many other cities might be. Ultimately the beaches, South Bay, westside, South LA, and Hollywood will all have one seat rides. And DTLA will have four two seat ride options.

To me, it looks 1.74 shades lighter than the official color of our A train. But many times, some of our signage is faded or printed a little off, and looks virtually identical to LA's.

I can't help thinking they cribbed this from us. But I don't think it's worth a lawsuit. Our MTA has, in my opinion, more important things to worry about.

To some extent it has since large portions of the blue and expo lines use old PE ROW's.

I don't know what it would have taken to upgrade, but the mindset at the time was that trains were becoming a thing of the past. That was largely true at the time, but now we've come full circle.

Also, the Metrolink San Bernardino line uses part of the PE San Berbardino line ROW (albeit relocated slightly).
