First of all - let me say I am not an expert. How can you increase the number of trains per hour when E has to merger with the C on 8th Ave and not cut down the number of C trains? Same situation for the R and W along Broadway. ETC ETC |

In the late 1940's, they operated 34 tph. They had unbalanced merges in Manhattan with the A, BB, CC, and D operating at 15 tph. They were not able to maintain schedules. They went to 11-car E/F's at 15 tph instead. |

To further illustrate; Queens Blvd will be the 3rd CBTC installation on NYCT. However, the system on the L line is not compatible with the systems on Queens Blvd or the 7 line. In fact, the 7 line system is incompatible with the Queen's Blvd. system. So the centrized elactronic labs must now stock and maintain materials for 3 unique systems. |

So the centrized elactronic labs must now stock and maintain materials for 3 unique systems. That won't happen. The electronics industry changes so fast that none of the equipment will be available in 15 years time. |

On the contrary, NYCT currently stocks relays and other parts for signals that are over 60 years old but your point is a good one |

That is the silliest thing that I ever heard of. Despite arguments on the other side, on a system such as NYCTS the entire system should be one universal type of CBTC equipment upgradable when necessary. |

Yes, but small mechanical parts for signals and the like are much easier and cost-effective to create on your own than complicated computer-controlled operating solutions, for which Transit will always need outside support. |
