LIRR Kawasaki M9
Posted by GojiMet86 on Thu Sep 12 19:26:06 2019 The Kawasaki M9 made its first revenue run on 9/11/19. It started the day as the 1621 out of Huntington to Hunterspoint Avenue. After its run was done, it headed to Long Island City and stayed there for about an hour, waiting as the diesel westbounds made their runs. 423, the former DM30AC 507 converted into a DE30AC, made an appearance.

It has been there as long as I can remember, And I can remember steam engines in that yard. MMMMmmmmm.... What would the NIMBYs say about steam engines tying up there all day. Oh My!

Another comment pseudo related to the M-9s, since the M-9s have the more or less traditional subway style pantograph gates, why weren't those installed on the NYCT’s NTTs since the end excess problem with them on the 75 footers does not exist?

To get to LIC Yard from Grand Central would require the train to go into Harold and do a reverse move somewhere to get to the tracks that lead to Hunters Point and the LIC yard. Not saying it is isn't possible but how many times are they going to want to do that?

I didn't know they still existed, and others on here are saying that the number will actually be increased.
