The last trip was made on Morristown Line Train No. 639, a Hoboken to Dover run. The consist from west to east was 3454, 4615, 3234, 3547, 4347, 3596, 3210, 4602, 3234, 3513, 4330 and 3506. There were originally thirty cars in the fleet. They had been built by the Saint Louis Car Company between 1946 and 1949 for service on the Twin City Rapid Transit lines in Minnesota. They came to Newark in 1953 and would provide all service on the Subway for the next forty eight years. Car 3 and 27 were sent to the Shaker Heights, Ohio system in 1977. Four other cars were scrapped or use for spare parts; 8, 18, 29 and 30. The last regular service car departed from Pennsylvania Station at 7:32 PM.
