Thanks for sharing this.

First, the terminal is already in need of serious repair? I heard about the solar panels, but salt air? Didn't anybody account for this when they built the place?

Second, I noticed that Feltman's was gone, and replaced with a place that sells Nathan's hot dogs. Not that I hate Nathan's, but seriously, Nathan's is already everywhere, I don't see why Feltman's couldn't have stayed. I wonder if Nathan's paid them off.

Third, I'm also suspicious about letting CAI handle the terminal vendors as well. I agree they already dominate the area - they're getting too much power. I can also see them using the renovation reason to throw out the current terminal vendors, or at least jack up their rents. The terminal isn't exactly the easiest place to do business - I keep seeing vendors drop out and get replaced.

Some Coney Island residents met the plans with excitement, anticipating that the renovations will revitalize a century-old terminal in need of repair.

Century old terminal in need of repair ?

Didn't this reporter figure out that Stillwell Terminal was totally demolished and rebuilt from the ground up ?

And Nathan's Coney Island is across the street. Why does it also need to be in Stillwell?

Nathan's also has a couple of other locations around Coney Island, such as the boardwalk and a small one in Luna Park (I think). The one on the boardwalk gets tons of traffic, easily the busiest stand there. The one in Luna Park seems to do decent business. I guess they feel that putting one in the terminal will get more of the commuter traffic. Currently, they're being served by Subway and Dunkin Donuts, plus the chain restaurants and 1 or 2 others.

I guess not.
Perhaps this cub was not a 'transit fan/big user',to make that kind of Glaring mistake.
But then again...because its no longer shining brightly like it was...one can assume...

Not a repair situation, per the official MTA release. Just being in charge of vendors and getting new ones in.

I wonder if that wooden token booth that used to greet customers as they entered the station still exists.

Nope. Except for the BMT facade, the tower, and maybe some core structural elements, everything was replaced.
