Despite the class-baiting "posh" the intent is to give local people and employees the chance to get to work or other places they need to be during times when the south fork is jammed with vacationers and their vehicles.

I'm not at all confident it'll be successful but we won't really know until the summer season gets going.

Is there something wrong with the Post website? This is the second article that goes blank after a few seconds. New advertising?

The South Fork Commuter Connection definitely wasn't thought out well at all... If anything, it was thought out in a way to inhibit ridership growth, as there are quite a lot of missed opportunities and issues...

The service is basically useless at Speonk and Westhampton, and you can't even buy the tickets anywhere east of Southampton. They seem to have gone out of their way to make finding and purchasing the tickets for the SFCC as difficult as possible (burying the option in the "deals and getaways" menu only on certain TVM's at certain stations).

Sounds like it is "setup to fail," which is different from "not well thought out."

Re: Train wasn’t thought through enough? (LIRR South Fork Commuter Connection)

The LIRR has been controlled by central planners for 51 years. Automatic conflict of interest, plus government apathy, plus no profit motive ("if we get this wrong, we don't eat"), ad nauseam.

I wonder how much $$$ they pissed away for consultants for this fiasco? It seems that these MTA retards can't do anything on their own with out hiring one of their consultant buddies!
