Question

Posted by JayZeeBMT on Fri May 17 05:45:19 2019

While on the NEC the other day, I wondered if SEPTA Silverliners and Jersey Arrows can MU and run in a train together. Can they, and has anyone ever attempted to try?

SEPTA IVs and Vs WILL are not scheduled to run together on the same train. If a train of either type breaks down for some reason, the other type can tow or push the offender to clear the track.

Weren't the original SEPTA silverliners and the Jersey Arrows part of the same car contract back when it was still all PRR?

I don't believe so. While both were planned by the Pennsy, the Arrow I wasn't produced until 1968-69 while the Silverliner I's started rolling in 1963.

The proper term for all of this is "collusion".
