I am still waiting for the cancelled Pascack Valley Line trains to return. I gave up holding my breath.

Sorry about that. It's a bad situation, for sure.

The engineer shortage situation is far more acute on the Hoboken Division than the Newark Division. There are May and June graduating classes, though I do not know how they are allotted.

On this past Sunday, when 2 Newark Division lines were restored, a NEC Rahway Local, and a Raritan Line round trip were cancelled due to Newark Division crew shortages. Late afternoon in the 4 - 6pm range is the highest risk period. Killing the Gladstone Branch on weekends helped the Hoboken Division situation somewhat

There is discussion of borrowing some metro north engineers to the Pascack Valley and Port Jarvis Lines, but it won’t happen.

Jurisdictional dispute.

That discussion is completely dead. MNR would probably have to buy the NJ portion of the lines outright from NJT to do that (which wouldn't be such a bad thing), negotiate trackage rights into Hoboken, and essentially reverse the relationship by which NJT pays MN to operate the NJ portion of the lines.
