The engineer shortage situation is far more acute on the Hoboken Division than the Newark Division. There are May and June graduating classes, though I do not know how they are allotted. On this past Sunday, when 2 Newark Division lines were restored, a NEC Rahway Local, and a Raritan Line round trip were cancelled due to Newark Division crew shortages. Late afternoon in the 4 - 6pm range is the highest risk period. Killing the Gladstone Branch on weekends helped the Hoboken Division situation somewhat |

That discussion is completely dead. MNR would probably have to buy the NJ portion of the lines outright from NJT to do that (which wouldn't be such a bad thing), negotiate trackage rights into Hoboken, and essentially reverse the relationship by which NJT pays MN to operate the NJ portion of the lines. |
