Had there been one bit of graffiti, they'd have pulled the train out of service, but not for this.

You cannot put that much trash in a car on a single trip.

It looks like the station cleaners could not wait for the garbage train.

No doubt you have to wonder how this got past the car cleaners, but at the end of the day... I still say that while the TA certainly has it's issues... It's largely the passengers who are responsible for the litter/filth problem. There's no reason for people to litter and just leave behind their trash so much. I really don't get the mindset, but it won't get much better until the culture changes

Yeah, pretty much. NYC is starting to look like the NYC of the 80's, only less crime (so far). Beggers, squeeze people everywhere, homeless bums all over the subway, trash everywhere, etc etc etc. Elmo still molesting folks in Times Square? Shit, I've seen folks standing in the middle of the fucking Cross Bronx looking for money for their next high.

The cops aren't doing shit about anything anymore, and it's pretty obvious where those marching orders are coming from.

I wasn't a big fan of Gulliani, and IMHO stop and frisk is at best illegal (and IMHO, it's not needed anyway - fix the problems, not the symptoms), but Blassio's social experiments are getting out of hand. I try to avoid the city these days (other than to pass through to LI for work), and honestly don't want to visit or spend my money there anymore. Annoyingly, this general meltdown is pushing shit in to Hoboken / JC now...

None of you guys can see the homeless guy and his shopping cart in the back of the car? Don't you think he is guilty of making the mess? NYCT personnel are being forced by deBlasio to clean up after these mentally ill/homeless people all the time. And have problems with them at terminal relays and lay-ups to get them off the trains. And they delay the trains in clearing tracks at the terminals.

If deBlasio would do the right thing and the cops stop dumping these people into the subways to get them off the streets you wouldn't see this type of thing. But the public blames the transit worker for the mess.

Neighborhoods like Bushwick and Ridgewood, where my one side of my family could not wait to get out of in the mid-1950's, and were dangerous into the 1980's, now has housing too expensive for most of use to buy, there is an affordable housing crisis and record homeless levels.

Back about 10 years ago I took a train out of service at 207th St. because of a foul smelling lead car. I called to have the police remove the offensive homeless skell from the car so it could be sent to the yard for cleaning. After a long delay, police said that because the skell could sit up and knew his name, they couldn't remove him from the train. The train left the station smelling and dirty.

The F is less "popular" because of the cold blasts on the Culver line and the clear out at 179th.

If the E & F swapped Queens terminals, the E would get fumigated at 179th, and the F remainw on drafty the Culver line.

Their rights? The police have no rights beyond those of common citizens. They are agents of the State and as such have to operate within the strictures imposed on them. Random stop and frisk violates people’s rights. Maybe if the police hadn’t gone hog-wild with stop and frisk, their reasonable searches wouldn’t have needed to be scrutinized.

Affordable housing is really very easy.
Get rid of rent control, and let builders build to their hearts content.

You see, we had a housing problem here in North Dakota, (The oil boom, you know) and rents were up to $2000.00 a month. Developers swooped in and built built built, Now there are apartments all over the place and guess what, prices have come down again.

Maybe you can say that the oil has cooled off a bit, they certainly have become more efficient about it, but I can watch the parade of frack-sand trucks driving up and down highway 8.

Free market works best.

Or would you rater live in city housing. I hear that that is not the greatest thing either.

Police have rights???

I don't think so. They have responsibilities, and they need methods to carry them out. If peeps know that they can be stopped and frisked just for wearing a hoodie, then they will be more careful about what they carry.

Stop and frisk needed to stop and go away. What has happened though is quality of life crimes have basically been all but de-criminalized due to the current social zeitgeist. Since moving to Queens last spring, the amount of fare beating you witness on the system is staggering, especially though the emergency gates. People just post up and waiting for exiting passengers to go through then viola.

When I was a TAPD cop back in the day, if TA personnel or any other competant authority requested a skell get removed from the train, I would have told the skell first, if he didn't go, the skell gloves go on, and he gets assisted out to the street. From who? It's not brutality to eject someone from the system. I was gone a few years before the merge but back then, the police were allowed to eject people, even by physical force. All they had to do is fill out an aided report. To be fair, I have no idea how the NYPD has been handling it for the last 25 years.

They do not want skell smell in their cars for the rest of the day.

There should be de-lousing stations where a skell-bus is parked near at hand. The Should be taken to the St. Tomas de Torqemada treatment center for a through clean up, a meal and clean clothing before being tossed out on the street again.

Well, that IS what you get for closing the state hospitals. The Democrats thought that they were too inhumane, and the Republicans thought that they were oo expensive. You reap what you sow.

They paid their fare and they got on the train. Unless they try to sit through Forest Hills fumigation and the like, courts would rule they could stay. If it were that simple as "rules of conduct" violation, there wouldn't be this problem.

When I was a member of the New York City Transit Police Department, you are allowed to eject people, even using physical Force if necessary. If I got a call and the transit authority guy told me that the bomb was laying on the bench or seat and he wouldn't get up and move, that was reason enough to eject him from the system. Now of course, I could have told him just get on the next train and get out, but if it took the the guy to call me over the six wire, then off he goes!

Yes, they paid their fare🙄🙄 and actually, the guy who was an actual real life cop in the Subways who is familiar with the rules and regulations, along with the New York state laws, said that the person could be removed from the train and it is up to his discretion whether or not to eject him from the system or not but if it came to that, he was going.

See sections 1050.7 and 1050.11

Neither of these preclude a homeless person from sitting in a neat and orderly way on a seat. But that's not what we're discussing in this thread.
