It's interesting how much more helpers were needed back in the day compared to now. I know the old PRR Main Line has grades, but today they are nothing that anyone would ever think would need a helper. |

I often have a Tehachapi webcam on my monitor. the engine counts are amazing often 4, sometimes as many as 7 (I assume 3800-4400 HP). Both the BNSF and UP trains tend to have 1 or more helpers. |
