The artics were basically Chicago’s version of the BMT Bluebird but built for Chicago’s clearances and with what became the state of the art for PCC equipment. all electric braking vs the Bluebird’s electro pneumatic braking. It seems that by the time the 6000s were ordered, it was decided to get away from articulations and go with single cars configured in married pairs. |
