Both units were bought by Grapevine railroad for about $75K each.

of the 6 CDOT units two went to Cape Cod
one went to Berkshire scenic.
one is someday going to Boston Surface rr
and two went to Grapevine rr in Texas.

meanwhile NYC painted 2012 went to LTEX so no FL-9's left on Metro North

last F unit remaining in Harmon, F-10 413 is slated to go to Danbury Railway Museum.

Yup! The Grapevine Vintage RR needed PTC-capable units for their tourist train. The FL9s will be used in push-pull configuration and will be repainted into GVRR's livery.

FL9s B&W (1 of 1)

The trailing unit (2014) was originally NH 2041. The lead unit (2016) was originally NH 2044. Both units were built in 1960. They were from the second group of FL9s built for the NHRR.

The FL-9's would have, at best, had ACSES installed, which is only utilized in the Northeast and requires cab signals and track beacons. I do not believe PTC was a consideration here.

GVRR will be installing PTC in one of the units. It's required for the FWWR line they run the tourist train on.

Wow, so no one in the metro area kept an FL9? That's too bad.

Unfortunately, Benet Levin has parked his pair of Pennsy E-8's since he does not want to spend for PTC installation.

Rescuing the Toys for Tots with NS in norther country of NYS, on account of Emporer Anderson's decision to back out, was their last excursion.

Will they be just control cabs like LIRR's power packs, or functioning locomotives ?

Top few shots are in the Ft. Worth Stockyards. All those structures are now long gone. So is that steamer.

So the train will have PTC protection when going in one direction, but not in the other ?

Works in both directions. The train is only a few cars long.

will the FL-9 going to Danbury be operational ? I would hope for it to be able to move on its own power around that yard....

I should have clarified; 2248 is OOS. Big money needed for the boiler inspection and repairs so it's doubtful whether it will return in service. GVRR says it will but they've been saying that for a few years now.

FL9 surrounded by FWWR motive power. 2030 and 2032 are SD40-2's recently acquired from NREX and have that "new car smell" from the fresh paint jobs and cleaning. 2005 is a GP38-2.

Rebuilt SD-40, or ex Conrail SD-40-2? Those look like Flexicoils.
